2008 GCACWT STUDENT WRITING COMPETITIONS
CONTEST RULES AND PROCEDURES
GCACWT members may submit the work of their students enrolled in their 2007-2008 classes. Deadline is March 24, 2008. Schools may use whatever internal procedure they like to determine entries. Each school is limited to one entry per award:
GCACWT Fiction Award--Undergraduate
GCACWT Fiction Award--Graduate
GCACWT Poetry Award-- Undergraduate
GCACWT Poetry Award--Graduate
GCACWT Creative Non-Fiction Award--Undergraduate
GCACWT Creative Non-Fiction Award--Graduate
Winners will be announced at the GCACWT annual conference, April 11 & 12, 2008. Winners will receive free subscriptions to literary magazines published by member programs, among them Bayou, Louisiana Literature, Gulf Stream Magazine, The Southeast Review, and The Texas Review.
Entry requirements:
Schools are limited to one entry per award.
All submissions must be typed or computer printed.
Students' names should not appear on manuscripts, only on the cover sheet.
Prose entries are limited to 5,000 words and should be double-spaced.
Poetry entries are limited to two poems by one poet.
Each entry should be accompanied a cover sheet stating category, the student's name, address, university affiliation and status as a graduate or undergraduate, and phone/e-mail, and the submitting teacher's name, address, and phone number/e-mail. Again, none of this information should appear on the manuscript itself, just the cover sheet.
Judges will be announced after the competition. No judges will be faculty from GCACWT member institutions.
Manuscripts will not be returned.
All contest entries must be received by Wednesday, March 24, 2008.
